What is a haiku?

Children will revise what a syllable is and then learn to control the number of syllables they use for each line of their own haiku, based on the main themes of the rhyming picture book The Unicorn's Horn.

Enter Twigs' world in Realm of the Thunderbird as children are given the opportunity to carry on her story in the style of the author. Allowing the children to explore the mythical, Native American thunderbird, witness as the freedom to let their imaginations soar inspires them to find pleasure in writing.

Find out what danger is hiding in the darkness as Charlotte introduces the children to the world of Twigs. Piece together the clues in the text, and encourage them to use their imagination to decide what peril the poor fae is facing.

Discover why the unicorns are on the brink of extinction as a young girl desperately tried to save them. Using drama skills, children immerse themselves in the story Where Unicorns Roam as they take on the role of the creatures' protector and of their persecutors.

Using relationship conflicts from Farewell to Faerie Forest, children role play possible scenarios to resolve discord within peer groups.
